5 Christian Topics I’m “On the Fence” About

There are many different topics that Christians think they know the answer to. Many of them are, indeed, in the Bible directly. I like these, because it means I have a direct answer. But every now and then a seemingly important topic comes along, and I’m forced to simply answer “I don’t know.”

1. Predestination?
2. Do Aliens Exist?
3. Does Marriage Exist in Heaven?
4. Does God or Satan Cause Bad Things to Happen?
5. Is Euthanasia Right or Wrong?

These are the things that, when asked, if forced to say I’m “on the fence” about. While that may draw the ire of pastors and Baptists the world over, I can’t find these answers in scripture nor in science nor in good old common sense.

I am going to do a blog on each of these five topics. Each blog will give you my thought process on each one, but I’m going to go ahead and tell you that each one will end in me conceding that I don’t know enough yet to form a life-long opinion. I will discuss these heavy topics in my next few blogs, although I might put some more lighthearted ones in between them.

I want to discuss something before we get started, though. Why can’t I find the answers to these topics? Why have debates about them raged on for hundreds of years?

Guess what? I don’t know. But I would surmise that anything God hasn’t laid out explicitly in the Bible may not really matter much in the grand scheme of things.

But hey, they matter now, right?. Especially numbers 4 and 5, right?. So I’m going to give you my logical groundwork, and let you form your opinions on the matters with open minds. I would love to see some discussion of these in the comments when there time comes.

Matthew Estes

Matthew Estes currently exists in the ether between graudate student and full-time worker. One day he hopes to be a full-time novelist and blogger, but until that day comes he spends his time playing video games, eating pizza, and being with his soon-to-be wife. However, he has yet to do all three at the same time. Bucket list stuff, you know.
